Daryl specializes in planning and taxation matters for family-owned businesses, high-income individuals and retirees. He has extensive audit and tax experience in real estate, construction, development, agriculture, and manufacturing. Daryl is particularly knowledgeable in the field of affordable housing, and has served as an expert witness in litigation involving real estate partnerships.
Daryl’s strong working knowledge of the tax law has helped to make him an effective advocate for the firm’s clients in tax planning and in representation before taxation authorities. He has a passion for working with clients to develop optimal estate planning strategies. He also consults with individuals and businesses involved with international transactions.
Daryl earned an M.S. in Taxation from Golden Gate University and is a graduate of California State University at Sacramento, where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and Management Information Science. Daryl became a CPA in 1985, and joined Bowman & Company in 1987 after serving at a national accounting firm. He serves as Chair of the North American region of the Alliott Global Alliance of Accounting and Law Firms and is a member of its worldwide Board of Directors.
Unplugged: During an African safari, Daryl and his wife Tamara became acquainted with a small nonprofit organization that provides microfinance loans of $675 to emerging businesses in Kenya. They were so moved by the people they met that Daryl took on the role of Chairman of Village Hopecore International. The organization has grown to also provide mobile health clinics in 72 schools, clean drinking water in 200 schools, and serves over 50,000 children in 500 villages.
