Daryl specializes in tax strategies for business owners, high-income and high net worth individuals. He has developed a strong practice in working with people in the real estate industry, both with conventional properties as well as affordable housing. Daryl has served as an expert witness in partnership disputes, and in interpreting provisions of partnership agreements from an accounting standpoint. Daryl has extensive experience in both tax and audit engagements in industries that reflect businesses that make up the heartland of California—real estate development, construction, agriculture, professional services, and manufacturing.
Daryl’s strong working knowledge of the tax law has helped to make him an effective advocate for the firm’s clients in tax planning and in representation before taxing authorities. He has identified a network of experts in allied fields who can be brought in to consult with clients in legal, estate planning, and financial planning matters. Through his appointment as the Accounting Chair of the Alliott Global Alliance, he has developed experience in working in international tax and has colleagues who can assist clients with legal and accounting needs in every part of the world.
Daryl earned an M.S. in Taxation from Golden Gate University and is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento, where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and Management Information Science. He became a CPA in 1985 and joined Bowman & Company in 1987 after working in a national accounting firm for four years.
In 2025 he was one of 1000 CPAs nationwide named to the inaugural list of Best-in-State CPAs by Forbes Magazine.
Unplugged: During an African safari in 2010, Daryl and his wife Tamara became acquainted with Village Hopecore International, a small nonprofit organization that was providing microfinance loans to emerging businesses in rural Kenya. They were so moved by the people they met that Daryl decided to serve as the Board Chair of the US side of the NGO. During his tenure, the award-winning organization has grown to extend loans of over $2.2 million to entrepreneurs, provide health care services to over 425,000 people, and provide clean drinking water and health education to 60,000 students in 240 schools. It has earned a Platinum Transparency rating from Candid and a Four-Star review from Charity Navigator for its effectiveness and accountability.
