Tara is a Bowman partner who specializes in audits of affordable housing, real estate developments, non-profit organizations, employee benefit plans and closely held businesses. She has a tremendous knowledge base in the audit and taxation of affordable housing projects and the strict requirements that go along with this type of entity. In an environment of increased oversight, Tara can provide the experience needed to ensure the quality of the audits, and that the internal controls of the organization are sufficient to prevent errors and fraud.
Tara has expertise in working with audits of employee benefit plans, which is a practice niche that is unusual among CPAs. Her work gives companies the peace of mind that their benefit plans satisfy the requirements of the Department of Labor, and will work with them to ensure continuing compliance. Tara believes that proper internal controls can help to guard all types of organizations against loss. Her audit team recently helped a nonprofit organization receive a substantial amount due to them which had gotten lost in the accounting records prior to the audit. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from San Diego State University.
Unplugged: Tara and her husband Scott have two children, Ryan and Brooke. They enjoy the outdoors and especially anticipate summer family camping trips.
