Employee Spotlight: Sydney Cranston, Audit Manager

Strong audit work requires more than technical knowledge. It also takes curiosity, thoughtful communication, and a commitment to helping both clients and team members understand the work behind the numbers.

Sydney Cranston brings each of those qualities to her role as an Audit Manager at Bowman & Company.

Since joining the firm in 2019, Sydney has gained experience serving a diverse range of nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Her work includes audits of federally funded entities, affordable housing projects, and closely held businesses. Across every engagement, she focuses on understanding each organization, identifying practical solutions, and helping the audit process move forward as smoothly as possible.

Sydney earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accountancy from California State University, Sacramento. Her education provided the technical foundation for her career, but her desire to keep learning has continued to shape the professional she is today.

One of Sydney’s greatest strengths is her natural curiosity. She enjoys learning new things, solving problems, and finding better ways to support the people around her. Rather than simply completing the work in front of her, she takes the time to understand why something works and how it can be improved.

That curiosity also influences how Sydney leads her team. She is passionate about coaching and mentoring others and hopes to continue developing those skills at an even deeper level. She enjoys helping team members build confidence, take on new challenges, and grow throughout their careers.

The compliment that has meant the most to Sydney is hearing that she makes herself available to staff and takes the time necessary to help them understand their work and succeed in their roles. That reflects the accomplishment she is most proud of: supporting others as they develop new skills, advance in their careers, and reach their potential.

Outside of the office, Sydney enjoys spending time with her husband, toddler son, and two dogs. If she had a few extra hours in each day, she would likely spend them in her garden adding even more plants.
