Employee Spotlight: Briana Valenzuela, Senior Tax Manager

International tax can quickly become complicated. Businesses operating across borders and individuals with international interests often face layers of reporting requirements, compliance considerations, and planning decisions that require both technical knowledge and a clear understanding of the bigger picture.
For Briana Valenzuela, CPA, Senior Tax Manager at Bowman & Company, helping clients make sense of that complexity is an important part of what she does.
Briana brings more than 15 years of public accounting experience to Bowman, with significant experience in U.S. international tax law and, in particular, U.S.–Mexico cross-border tax matters. Throughout her career, she has worked with foreign-owned U.S. businesses, U.S. companies with foreign operations, business owners, and individuals navigating international tax compliance, reporting, structuring, and planning considerations.
Her international tax experience is backed by a strong technical foundation. Briana is a CPA licensed in New Mexico and holds the AICPA U.S. International Tax Certificate. She regularly works on complex cross-border matters and is often relied upon for practical guidance involving multinational reporting, entity structuring, compliance requirements, and tax planning.
Briana works remotely as part of Bowman’s tax team, serving closely held businesses, real estate groups, transportation and logistics companies, family-owned enterprises, and high-net-worth individuals. In addition to international tax matters, her work includes entity structuring, strategic tax planning, compliance support, and coordination of tax-efficient wealth transfer and estate planning strategies.
What sets Briana apart, however, is not simply her technical experience. She approaches her work with the mindset of a trusted advisor, someone clients can turn to not only for an answer, but for thoughtful guidance that considers where they are today and where they want to go.
Her personal service philosophy is centered on providing proactive, practical guidance that helps clients make confident decisions while supporting their long-term business and generational success. That approach is especially valuable in international tax, where decisions made in one country can create reporting requirements or tax implications in another. Having an advisor who can help identify those connections and coordinate the pieces can make an otherwise complicated process much more manageable.
Briana’s interest in accounting also has a deeply personal foundation. Growing up in a community where many people were unfamiliar with financial systems inspired her to pursue a career where she could help businesses and families better understand their financial and tax matters. As the daughter of immigrant parents, she credits her upbringing with teaching her resilience, discipline, and perseverance—qualities that continue to shape the way she approaches both her career and her relationships with clients.
Originally from La Union, New Mexico, a small agricultural community in the Mesilla Valley near El Paso, Briana grew up surrounded by pecan orchards, vineyards, and a strong sense of community. She continues to value those roots and is proud to still call the El Paso area home, appreciating its cultural diversity, friendliness, and strong sense of community.
Outside of work, Briana enjoys reading, traveling and taking road trips with her husband, Daniel, hiking, exploring new places and cuisines, and spending time with family. She has also been dancing since childhood, including traditional ballet folklórico and flamenco, a cultural passion that remains important to her today.
We are grateful to have Briana as part of the Bowman & Company team and appreciate the experience, perspective, and care she brings to her clients and colleagues. Her international tax knowledge further strengthens Bowman’s ability to support businesses and individuals whose financial lives extend beyond U.S. borders.
