Partner Spotlight: Celebrating Dan Phelps

After nearly four decades of dedication to Bowman & Company, we are proud to recognize Daniel E. Phelps, Partner, as he prepares to retire on December 31, 2025.

Dan joined Bowman in 1986 and has spent almost 40 years serving clients, leading the firm, and helping shape the culture that defines Bowman today. Throughout his career, Dan balanced client service with firm administration and employee relationships, playing an integral role in building Bowman into the firm it is today.

A Career Built on Commitment

Dan’s professional journey is marked by perseverance, integrity, and a strong work ethic. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Davis, followed by an MBA from California State University, Sacramento, and later a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University. Notably, Dan put himself through college without financial assistance—working summers, breaks, and weekends—an accomplishment he remains especially proud of.

When asked what he finds most rewarding, Dan points to two things: clients expressing gratitude for his service and the personal relationships built with fellow members of the firm, as well as with his clients. Those values, service and close connections, have clearly guided both his career and his life.

Life Beyond the Office

Dan has been married to his wife, Chris, for 48 years. Together, they have two daughters, Jill and Kimberly, and four granddaughters—Norah, Noelle, Kennedy, and Collins—who bring him immense joy. Their household also includes a Black Lab named Pepper, a Frenchie named Pearl, Ollie the cat, and a few Greek tortoises.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys traveling, waterfowl hunting, and spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren. He’s also passionate about training his Labrador retriever and hopes to spend even more time doing so in retirement.

A Lasting Legacy

Dan is deeply proud of what he and his colleagues have built at Bowman & Company—working together toward a shared goal of creating the best firm possible. His leadership, work ethic, and commitment to clients and colleagues alike have left a lasting mark on the firm.

We are grateful for Dan’s years of service and wish him all the best as he enters this next chapter filled with travel, family time, and new adventures.

Thank you, Dan, for everything you’ve given to Bowman & Company. Your legacy will continue well beyond your retirement.
