Unplugged: During an African safari in 2010, Daryl and his wife Tamara became acquainted with Village Hopecore International, a small nonprofit organization that was providing microfinance loans to emerging businesses in rural Kenya. They were so moved by the people they met that Daryl decided to serve as the Board Chair of the US side of the NGO. During his tenure, the award-winning organization has grown to extend loans of over $2.2 million to entrepreneurs, provide health care services to over 950,000 people, and provide clean drinking water and health education to 130,000 students in 680 schools. It has earned a Platinum Transparency rating from Candid and a Four-Star review from Charity Navigator for its effectiveness and accountability.
